Learn from your History

History is an unended dialogue between the past and the present ~ E.H Carr. It is very true that we can learn from our history and have a rewarding future. Your past should give you hindsight that provides you insight with the present and foresight into the future. I have learned so many things in my past. My past was a bit amazing and very interesting. Hmmm...I could recall while I was in my early teenage years. My dad lose everything...I meant he lose everything and we were damned broke.

I had enjoyed my childhood years, I had been to one of the best schools, got the best cloths but my dad's sickness took away everything. He sold his car, he sold virtually all his video recording machines, he was then a film producer and marketer. We had to move from a convenient self contained room and apartment to a room in Bariga. He said to me that night we moved in. He said, "Hammed, we need to start managing and I understood every bit of what he had said. I knew, I have to be considerate, but you know as a young teenager, the next morning, I got on the street and life continued.

I love my dad and he is the best in the world. Through struggles, he sponsored my Secondary school education and provided everything I wanted. He enrolled me in a computer school and made me a computer literate. It was quite unfortunate, that we had to leave Bariga as the owner of the house, wanted to renovate. We had no where to stay and we were harboured by a neighbor. They accepted us into their house and we were living together until we got our apartment. During this period, I worked as a nursery School teacher, I worked as a laborer, fetching water to support bricklayers. We were doing this to feed ourselves.

To cut the story short, during this period of my life, I have learned how to accommodate people, strangers and accept responsibilities. I have learned patience, that no matter what, I won't break and I would never result to negativity. I have learned hardwork, I have learned to succeed one needs to work and have positive attitudes towards life. I have learned to respect people, because in the process I had to live with a lot of people.

My past was a challenge to my present and the best way to move ahead from it; is not to live in it, rather learn its lessons. My past is part of my life and I am indeed indebted to everyone who has made me. I thank God for making me choose positivity. My past has given me the experience needed in pursuing my destiny and I am still learning. It nourishes me and preparing me for tough times and leadership. Well, guys...fellas, no matter the condition, whether you fail in business and you are left with nothing. Whether life hits you hard. Those things are there to provide you experiences to live a meaningful life and teach others too. So, whenever you are faced with hardship, difficult times, know that it's preparing you for greater and bigger things. Learn from your history. I did and I am doing well today, creating my own story.
